New LP 'Unexpected' 21st May 2024! UK based duo, instrumentalist Brian Moss and vocalist Josephine Warden formed Vicious Pink sometimes known as Vicious Pink Phenomena, a Techno/Dance/Electronica/New Wave duo in Leeds, England in 1981. VP have multiple releases every year since, released by various companies including Razormaid and Cherry Red. Fan posts of songs on Youtube which have a Million plus plays and a Million plus plays on Spotify/Soundcloud. Their music has been used in films and TV shows such as US TV series Halt and Catch Fire and on the HBO series Real Sex. With a catchy sound and a penchant for highly provocative and sexualised lyrics, the duo aimed for success in with DJ friendly mixes for night clubs, rather than radio friendly commercial hits. The duos first live appearance was in Leeds at Amnesia in 1981 as backing vocalists for Soft Cell, this event was recorded by the BBC’s Oxford Road Show. Later that year at New York City’s Media Sound Studio they performed on Soft Cell’s debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. Vicious Pink were one of a few bands in the early 1980s that could be described as having a Techno sound, and can be credited for coining the term, by describing their music as “Techno” in Sounds music publication, on 27th March 1982. A long time before the term was used by Detroit DJs in 1986. Jose/Brian have a new vinyl 2LP West View out now on Minimal Wave Records also available to download.
